Iaea Headquarters Agreement

Agreements in which the IAEA participates include international agreements concluded by the IAEA as an international organization with states or other international organizations. These contracts confer rights and obligations on the IAEA. The IAEA headquarters agreement with Austria, the IAEA partnership agreement with the UN, all safeguard agreements and technical cooperation agreements concluded by the IAEA with individual states are outstanding examples. IAEA treaties include international agreements that have not been concluded under the aegis of the IAEA and of which the IAEA is not a member, but are relevant to the Agency`s work and may consider roles and responsibilities for the IAEA. Examples include the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and regional non-proliferation treaties. The IAEA`s work treaties cover a wide range of issues, from the organization of the Agency`s work to civil liability for nuclear damage, nuclear security, nuclear security, security measures and nuclear non-proliferation. They can be categorized into three categories: contracts under the aegis of the IAEA; agreements in which the IAEA participates; IAEA contracts. The treaties under the auspices of the IAEA are international agreements negotiated and concluded by IAEA member states with the support of the Agency`s secretariat. The Director General of the IAEA serves as the custodian for these contracts. The IAEA Legal Office, acting on behalf of the Director-General, holds the original texts of the treaties, receives contractual instruments from states wishing to join, and informs States and the United Nations of the official status of treaties.

For example, the Nuclear Safety Convention, the Convention on the Physical Protection of Nuclear Materials (CPPNM) and its amendment, as well as a series of civil liability agreements for nuclear damage, are examples of contracts. The IAEA`s work includes many treaties that play an important role in defining legally binding international rules in the areas they cover. The Virtual National Workshop focuses on nuclear legislation for research reactors in Vietnam The IAEA provides virtual legislative support to Bahrain.
